Tube is out!

I just woke up and called the hospital and they just took him off the vent! They are going to watch him very carefully for the next few hours to make sure he does OK, but so far he seems to be doing well. Keep your fingers crossed that this continues, especially since last night, Magnus was starting to make it clear that he did NOT like the tube. He was starting to chew on it, and to peel the tape off his face with his little fingers (this kid seems to have some pretty awesome fine motor control).

Assuming he does OK, the next thing to go will be his chest drainage tubes, probably on Monday.

  1. Cool - can't wait until he's got all of that "stuff" out of him, and he can escape!

  2. Hooray for Magnus! Carol and I are so glad to learn things are going well post-surgery. Magnus has been our chief source of interest this Vinalhaven Thanksgiving holiday. Thank you for this blog.

  4. Two very positive reports within twelve hours! It just keeps getting better! Magnus is a tough little kid, and I expect he will continue to exceed all expectations. He looked so bright and alert in those earlier videos, that none of this amazing progress surprises us! Keep up the good work, all three of you!

  5. I'm totally not surprised that he's inherited fine motor control from his dad!(I'm predicting that he's going to rule the world by the time he's 30.) Hooray for being off the vent! Go Magnus go!
